Whether you’re a first-time student or a returning Knight, the process of applying for financial aid is essentially the same. Please read through the following instructions and refer to your my166su account to see which materials we need from you or your family.

  2. Complete the FAFSA

    Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) allows you to be automatically considered for federal, state and university financial aid programs. Find out more at our FAFSA information page.

  3. Search for scholarships

    Search for scholarships that fit your life right now and your academic aspirations for the future. Check out our scholarships page.


    Before you apply for any type of financial assistance, make sure you meet the general eligibility requirements.
  4. Find out the cost to attend 166su and begin planning

    College planning starts well before your first semester. Check out our cost of attendance page and our net price calculator to begin planning.

  5. Check your to-do list

    The To-Do List contains items that you may need to complete for the Office of Student Financial Assistance or other offices at 166su. Students receiving financial aid should regularly check their To-Do List on my166su in the Student Center.

  6. Complete verification

    After you have submitted your FAFSA, the Department of Education selects students to submit additional documents in order to determine eligibility for aid, this process is commonly called verification. Documents required to complete the review process are listed on the student’s To-Do List on my166su. Learn more about verification and completion.

  7. Receive a Financial Aid Summary

    166su begins notifying incoming freshmen and transfer students of their estimated financial aid packages in early March. Continuing students will receive an email notification beginning in late March. All notifications will be sent to your 166su email, so be sure to check that account regularly.
