{"id":5144,"date":"2009-08-14T07:30:33","date_gmt":"2009-08-14T11:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=5144"},"modified":"2019-07-19T13:51:55","modified_gmt":"2019-07-19T17:51:55","slug":"the-ultimate-knight-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/the-ultimate-knight-returns\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ultimate Knight Returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>High energy, motivating, hilarious and powerful 2,720 minutes of live-action performance, nine tenets, 6,000 First Time In College student\u2019s shouting, \u201cGimme More!\u201d and \u201cGo Knights!\u201dIt must be time for FTIC Orientation.<\/p>\n<p>For the second year in a row, UCF Housing and Residence Life\u2019s very own Jimmy Moore presents, \u201cThe Ultimate Knight.&#8221; The event, which has been described by many freshmen as, \u201cMy favorite part of Orientation\u201d is designed to be the kick-off to a yearlong focus for the new initiative in the <a href=\"https:\/\/fye.sdes.ucf.edu\/\">Office of First Year Experience<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Many offices were involved in the development of the program throughout the past academic year. The current LINK program will be the conduit to promote The Ultimate Knight throughout the academic year. This program is a division-wide effort to encourage first year students to acquire the tools and resources available through <a href=\"https:\/\/sdes.ucf.edu\/\">SDES<\/a> to get them started on the right foot. Moore, who wrote a book, based on the presentation he created, shares his compelling story of coming to 166su as an orphan, and succeeding through the experience and support he received from student affairs professionals. He reminds the students, \u201cCollege will change your life. The person sitting here today will not be the same person who walks across the stage at graduation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGet Smart\u201d, one of the nine tenets, focuses on academics, the keys to college success take students from the classroom to the residence hall, the Student Union and beyond ever reminding them to, \u201cGet Involved, Get Global, Get Savvy, Get Diversified, Get Healthy, Get to work, Get Real\u201d and with a message of balance and finding your own path to \u201cGet it all together!\u201d Feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive.
